It’s a Sound Investment in our Future.

You can help us build a better future for Clayoquot Sound – Now.
Your donation is immediately invested into research, education and cultural activities that improve our relationship with our ecosystem. Interconnectedness of all living things – this is our guiding principle, founded in the philosophy of the Nuu-chah-nulth people who have inhabited Clayoquot Sound for centuries. They call it hishuk ish ts’awalk. We call it a sound investment in the future.
The Clayoquot Biosphere Trust is a registered non-profit, charitable society. All donations are tax deductible.
Donations can also be made to the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust Society at PO Box 67, Tofino BC, V0R 2Z0.
Donations can be made through our donation form at Canada Helps where your gift will be processed through their secure site. You will receive a tax-receipt directly from CanadaHelps (also a registered Canadian charity). Through the Canada Helps site, you can also make a general donation or direct it to one of our specific programs, including:
- Wild Pacific Salmon Fund – 100% of donations go directly to salmon enhancement (75%) and research (25%) in Clayoquot Sound. No overhead, no administrative costs…just direct action to support local salmon.
- USS Kayaking Program – 100% of donations go directly to the USS Kayaking Program – a locally designed elective for local high school students that teaches them essential kayaking skills, Basic Wilderness First Aid and leadership skills. You can also buy a $10 ticket for our Annual Kayak Raffle, just follow the link!
- Healthy Food, Healthy Communities – Help us address food security issues by improving access to affordable healthy foods, health and nutrition education and training to increase local capacity to grow and harvest local foods. Our work to date has been recognized nationally and helps build food security models for other remote and rural communities.
- Youth and the Biosphere – Young people are the future leaders of Clayoquot Sound. We engage children and adolescents through partnerships with schools and outdoor education programs. By working closely with young people, we believe they will share the Biosphere Reserve experience with others and embrace the living philosophy of Hishuk ish ts’awalk as they move through life.
- The Biosphere Centre – Help us raise funds to create a permanent home for the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust Society. We envision a community place for learning and sharing – a place where both traditional story-tellers and scientific researchers feel welcome and valued. A permanent office and community-gathering space will support the Society’s ongoing conservation, education and community health work across the entire Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Contact us a 250 725-2219 or send an email to rebecca (a) clayoquotbiosphere.org to find out more about these programs and other initiatives taking place in the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
