The Tofino Community Fund supports and enriches life for those living in Tofino. This community-specific endowment fund allows donors to provide lasting support for community needs. This fund was established in 2019 in memory of Councillor Dorothy Baert, but is not limited to donations by her friends and family, nor is it limited to donations in her memory. The fund will be grown over time for the long-term benefit of the many organizations that enrich the lives of Tofitians.
This fund has been established by the District of Tofino in partnership with the CBT and Tourism Tofino.
Dorothy has been a big part of life in Tofino. When we think of Dorothy, one memory that stands out was her love of bringing people together. Whether it was volunteering at Oyster Festival, hosting a staff dinner, or pouring a friend a cappuccino, Dorothy shone brightest when she was building community. She also welcomed opportunities to support people to achieve their potential. As an employer, she made it possible for people to follow their dreams and achieve their personal goals. Dorothy was no different when it came to her role on Council. She wanted Tofino to be all that it could be. She had ideas to share and pushed us to go further. Her work was never done and she made it clear that ours wasn’t either.
Established in Dorothy's memory, the Tofino Community Fund encompasses all of these things – bringing people together, creating opportunities, and aspiring to do more. If you share this vision, we hope you’ll join the District of Tofino and Tourism Tofino by making a contribution to the fund.
