Tofino Children's Swimming and Water Safety Fund

Growing up on the ocean presents many opportunities for the children in our communities. From surfing to canoe journeys, being on and in the water is a part of growing up in Tofino. It is our wish that all children have an opportunity to learn how to swim so they can build confidence, enjoy a healthy and fun activity, and participate safely in everything our spectacular backyard has to offer.

Removing Barriers

Our goal is to build an endowment fund that will fund swimming lessons for all students at Wickaninnish Community School annually. The income will support travel and other costs related to swimming and water safety lessons for students. Funds may be used for children who are home-schooled, as well as for elementary school-aged children living in Clayoquot Sound who may travel to Tofino for lessons.

Building Life Skills

The life-skills our students gain from both the swimming and ocean safety lessons are immense. Learning how to safely enjoy and respect our local waters through the surf lessons adds another layer to student’s knowledge and, of course, fun.
