ABOUT THE EVENT

This gathering will welcome over 500 attendees from across the region, including local residents, visitors, and regional organizations. The event is designed to honour Indigenous knowledge and leadership, highlight 25 years of collaborative conservation and sustainable development, and bring communities together to reflect on the future of the Biosphere Region. Central to the gathering will be cultural sharing through storytelling, traditional food (such as wild salmon), art, dance, and experiential workshops. The day will also include youth-led sessions, collaborative booths, and presentations from local and regional leaders.

As a UNESCO-recognized site, we are working to advance biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, reconciliation, and climate action. These values bring Nations, communities, organizations, and individuals together and help us move forward toward shared goals and a future we can all be proud of. The Biosphere designation uplifts and aligns everyone’s efforts, recognizing that when Indigenous rights and title are upheld, communities and ecosystems thrive. As we celebrate this 25-year milestone, we want to honour the frontline advocacy that made this possible and continues to guide the path forward.

All communities, residents, and visitors are invited to mark this moment and move forward in a positive direction for the future of the region. We will recognize and celebrate our movement towards these goals and envision how we can continue to work together for the health and abundance of all.
