Truth, Honour & the Way Forward
In partnership with Ucluelet Secondary School (USS), the Legacy of Hope Foundation, and Canadian Heritage, the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust hosted an exhibit to honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
During this month-long project, youth from USS engaged in multiple activities to learn about the history and legacy of the Canadian Indian Residential School System. Students put together poetry, orange shirts, research projects, and investigations into the 94 Calls to Action. These artifacts of learning were on display during the event alongside the newest mobile exhibition from the Legacy of Hope Foundation: "Indian Day Schools in Canada – An Introduction".
Many people were able to attend the exhibit on September 30th, 2023, and joined us on the pathway to truth, healing, and reconciliation beyond a single day. To learn more about the history and legacy of Indian Residential Schools in Canada please visit https://nctr.ca.
This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada.
