Clayoquot Biosphere Trust Receives Transformational $1.2M Gift from the Ronald S. Roadburg Foundation
The Clayoquot Biosphere Trust (CBT) is honored to announce a generous $1.2 million philanthropic investment from the Ronald S. Roadburg Foundation, marking a significant milestone in bringing the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Centre (CSBC) to life. This remarkable gift highlights our shared commitment to strengthening communities, advancing reconciliation, and fostering environmental stewardship.
Of this contribution, $1 million will directly support the construction of the CSBC, a permanent, inclusive space where learning, collaboration, and innovation will thrive. An additional $200,000 will enhance programming, ensuring the Centre is a vibrant hub of activity that serves local organizations and initiatives for generations to come.
A Shared Vision for Impact
The Roadburg Foundation’s core values—Responsibility, Integrity, Empowerment, and Impact—align strongly with our mission at CBT. Like the Roadburg Foundation, we believe in creating lasting change and fostering interdependence among individuals and organizations. Through this partnership, CBT and the Roadburg Foundation are cultivating a legacy of healing, cultural preservation, and environmental action. The CSBC will serve as a gathering place where relationships are strengthened, and knowledge is shared—providing opportunities for cross-sector partnerships and innovative solutions to complex challenges.
The Biosphere Centre will provide essential infrastructure for key programs and services that address education, food security, cultural learning, environmental conservation, mental health, and more. With dedicated spaces such as the Teaching Kitchen, Elders Room, research and education spaces, and outdoor gathering areas, the Centre will empower local communities and organizations to continue their vital work. The CSBC will provide a safe, welcoming environment for Indigenous-led programming, exhibits, and educational initiatives.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Roadburg Foundation for their belief in our vision. Their generosity is an investment in the resilience of this region, the protection of the environment, and the well-being of future generations.
The CBT has raised $10.9M for this transformative capital project including a federal $7.17M grant. Stay tuned for updates as we bring this vision to life, creating a hub for programs, collaboration, and shared resources. CBT’s capital campaign to complete the project continues.
