Grant Writing Workshop - West Coast NEST - Clayoquot Biosphere Trust

Join our half-day workshop hosted in partnership with the West Coast N.E.S.T. (CBT's regional education tourism initiative) to learn effective grant writing and fundraising strategies. 

Outline:

In this workshop, Scott Graham, multi-award winning expert planner, governance advisor, and evaluator, will share strategies and methods for writing successful grant applications. He will also discuss grants and fundraising opportunities for small organizations. 

Workshop participants will learn how to effectively summarize their projects, thoughtfully develop project budgets, and discuss the importance of establishing good relationships with funders. 

Participants are encouraged to bring their project ideas to work through during the session. Before the workshop, participants should think about the goals/objectives of their project, what activities will be carried out, and what changes will come about as a result of their project.

About the instructor:

Scott Graham is a multi-award winning expert planner, governance advisor, and evaluator. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia (teaching in the Masters’ Degree program in Indigenous Community Planning) and serves as the Principal of Scott Graham Consulting Services. Scott brings significant experience in leading assessments, funding initiatives, strategic and operational planning, organizational development and has worked with many organizations in developing, implementing, and evaluating key strategic initiatives.

Scott’s work has included partnerships and relationships with theFirst Nations Health Authority and Council, First People’s Cultural Council, Ministry of Advanced Education, City of Vancouver, City of Surrey, City of Richmond, Gitksan Government Commission, Canadian Council for Social Development, Columbia Basin Trust, Fraser Basin Council, Social Sciences and Humanities

Research Council, Vancouver Public Library, Office of the Wet’su’wet’en, United Nations Development Program, College of Health Disciplines at the University of British Columbia, Taku River Tlingit First Nation, Fraser Basin Council, Vancouver Foundation, Ministry of Advanced Education, Gitanmaax Band, Ministry of Health, Vancouver Coastal Health and the Community Action Initiative of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

*Priority will be given to those living in the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region.

In a generous gesture, they have already contributed $40,000 as their inaugural installment.

CBT's Youth Intern, Reflects on her Beach Cleanup Experience

This summer, CBT's Youth Intern, Janessa, has been supporting us in a wide range of projects across the organization and also participated in initiatives hosted by other local non-profits. One of our goals was to offer her the opportunity to experience diverse types of work as well as acquire skills and knowledge in many different fields. Learn about her time with Surfrider Pacific Rim where she helped remove debris from a local beach.

PLEASE NOTE: Applications are now closed for this position.  The Administrative Assistant will support the CBT across all program areas. The successful candidate will coordinate the day-to-day administration and operations of the CBT office, creating a welcoming space, updating administrative practices, and maintaining records. They will work closely with the Executive Director to support the Board of Directors, as well as work closely with the Finance Coordinator to assist with bookkeeping processes. The Administrative Assistant will work across the CBT to support our programs and events.
