Frequently Asked Questions

To learn more about the Biosphere Centre project, please reach out to Michelle Hall, Campaign and Donor Relations Lead.

How much funding has been raised so far, and where has it come from?

To date, the project has secured approximately $12.7 million through a combination of government investment, philanthropic foundations, community fundraising, and private donors. That includes significant support from federal and provincial programs aligned with climate resilience, accessibility, economic diversification, culture, and community infrastructure.

What’s important to understand is that projects of this scale are rarely funded by one individual or one sector alone. Community infrastructure in Canada is typically built through layered partnerships between governments, philanthropy, corporate supporters, local donors, and community organizations.

There are also incredibly generous people in Tofino and across the west coast who have already contributed to this project and continue to champion it. Tofino also attracts visitors, seasonal residents, and philanthropists from across Canada and internationally who feel deeply connected to this place because of its natural beauty, culture, and global profile. We absolutely believe there is an opportunity for people who love and benefit from this region to help invest in its long-term future and resilience.
